Roulette is one of the easiest casino games to learn and play. Although reasonable strategies can be applied in playing Roulette, it is still popular as a game of luck. Roulette is one of the most popular table games in both online and land based casinos because it offers players a variety of choices in gameplay decisions. A small bet can yield a big result if the luck is on the player’s side which is what makes this game so exciting.

In this article, we give you how to play guidelines on Roulette along with a brief history on how this simple game turned out to be a must for any casino.

Roulette: History

In order to chart this rising popularity of the game of Roulette, we have to go back some 800 years to the origin of Roulette. Many researchers believe that it originated in Rome and others believe it originated in China and introduced to Europe by monks in the 13th century. Regardless of its very beginning, the modern version of the game can be traced back to 17th century France, where a French philosopher Blaise Pascal developed a wheel and bolt device while experimentation with the perpetual-motion. Although, Pascal is credited for naming his device ‘Roulette’ meaning ‘Little Wheel’ in French, there is no evidence he developed with the intention of using it for gambling. As time went by, many people used this idea and developed it into the game we know today.

Roulette: Game Settings

A Roulette game has two parts: the Roulette wheel and the Roulette table. The Roulette table is the area where players have to place their bets and the Roulette wheel is the circular object that is spun after all the bets on the table have been placed. After this, a ball is thrown into the outside area of the wheel and when it is slowed down enough, it will fall into one of the pockets of the wheel which will decide the result of the game.

Roulette: Gameplay and rules

Roulette is played against the house. The house is represented by the Croupier who has the responsibility of spinning the Roulette wheel and handling the bets placed on the table. A player will be allocated a range of specific minimum and maximum amount of bets they can place. This rule varies for the inside and outside bets for each spin.

For online roulette, the navigation bar is at the bottom and players can clear bets, choose their chip denomination and then hot the spin button. If the ball lands on the number or the category of the bet you have placed, you win.
